Dear XXXXX:
I am investigative researcher regarding the neo-Confederate movement. I am published by peer reviewed academic journals and university presses as well as non-academic publications. You can read my curriculum vitae online at http://www.templeofdemocracy.com/curriculum-vitae.html.
The policies and practices of presidential administrations unfortunately often enable neo-Confederate organizations. The neo-Confederate movement in addition to being advocates of a wide variety of prejudices is against democracy itself and condemns Abraham Lincoln as a criminal.
It is my hope to find out what the positions of the candidates for President are regarding these policies and practices which enable neo-Confederate organizations and some questions relating to the Civil War and Reconstruction relating to neo-Confederate ideology.
To this end I am sending all the announced candidates for president the enclosed questionnaire. The questions are based on past practices of current and prior presidential administrations of the 20th and 21st century, a few relating to neo-Confederate ideology, the views of some recent presidential candidates and the 2012 secession petitions after the elections and public polls on secession.
The responses need not be limited to yes, no, undecided or other. You can write in a reply as you see best to express your views on the question. If more room is needed the back of the questionnaire can be used as well as additional sheets.
I look forward to reading your replies to this questionnaire as well as informing the public regarding them.
Sincerely Yours,
Edward H. Sebesta
