Dallas and the Philippines Insurrection
Dallas revealed its racist self during the Philippines Insurrection, a name which is oriented from the view of the brutal American conquerers. It was the war for Philippines Independence. However, I am provisionally using this title since that is what the war is widely know as.
The following is a paper with a brief background on the Philippine Insurrection with letters written home by Texan soldiers in the Philippines which reveal their racism and how the war was basically a race war.
Besides the Confederacy and the Civil War there are other historical periods in American history of violent white terror such as during Reconstructions and the American army in the Philippines. These others should not be honored on the landscape. Also, instead of looking at the past with hazy sentimentally, it needs to be understood who these people really were.
TRIGGER WARNING. I have written the paper not omitting words and having them as published in the Dallas Morning News. If you have the least suspicion that you might be upset and suffer emotional tumult you should not read these papers. If you felt compelled to post on Facebook or in other social media a negative emotional state, STOP, don't read this, don't go past.
