Southern Baptist Convention General Information
The Southern Baptist Convention previously had been known only to have hosted a neo-Confederate national convention event once, First Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina in 2001 where they lent their facilities to the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC). Grace Baptist Church hosted the UDC in Richmond, Virginia in 1992, but as of yet I haven't tracked down their affiliations.
Up until now in late October 2014 the Southern Baptist Convention hadn't been written since they hadn't hosted any neo-Confederate group since 2001 and additionally with their Resolution of apology over slavery in 1995 (http://www.sbc.net/resolutions/899) seemed to preclude them wanting to host a neo-Confederate group.
However, the Ashley River Baptist Church hosted the SCV in Charleston, South Carolina for their 2014 convention. So a letter is in progress. http://www.timesexaminer.com/historical/1914-2014-national-reunion-of-sons-of-confederate-veterans
Though in the EXCEL table of churches hosting local neo-Confederate events there are a great many Baptist churches, however, there are multiple denominations of Baptists and identifying which denomination individual Baptists churches are isn't always straightforward.
Ironically the neo-Confederate movement has condemned the Southern Baptist Church with incendiary language since the passage of the Resolution in 1995 and the SCV promotes these condemnations of the Southern Baptists.
