Raleigh 2015 UDC Convention
The North Carolina Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) had on their web page that the UDC general organization was going to have their memorial service at the Edenton Street United Methodist Church. Then the web page was pulled. It can be viewed here on the Internet Archive. The the North Carolina Division UDC has a revised page up in which the convention is at a downtown Raleigh church but the specific church isn't mentioned.
In reply to correspondence Rev. Ned Hill has said that Edenton Street United Methodist Church isn't hosting the UDC, but also that there was never an agreement to do so. However, it is unlikely that the North Carolina UDC would announce that the General UDC was going to meet at the Edenton Street United Methodist Church if they didn't think they were going to meet there. I really don't know whether to believe Rev. Ned Hill or not.
Note the UDC specifically rejects the term "national" for the organization as a whole and insists that it be called general. So the general UDC is what we might otherwise call the national UDC.
I had thought that the North Carolina Division UDC was referring to their state convention, but it is their general convention. That explains my reference to it as such in my correspondence prior to 12/13/2014.
Further activity is forthcoming and people in Raleigh are being contacted to help out.
Help is needed in Raleigh to continue to investigate this matter and encourage churches not to host the UDC. Please contact me by email if you are interested.
