Arlington Hall and Oak Lawn Park
One of the issues raised in an Op-Ed published in the Dallas Morning News was Arlington Hall at what is now called Oak Lawn Park. It is a building that is a one-third replica of Robert E. Lee's Arlington Hall in Virginia. This hall was part of the Dallas Southern Memorial Association's glorification of Robert E. Lee and the Confederacy and their racist agenda.
Mayor Rawlings' Confederate Monument Task Force didn't include the Arlington Hall replica in its agenda.

Dallas Southern Memorial Association in opposition to the Civil Rights movement.
Please come back for this. A write up is in progress. This is part of Dallas' neo-Confederate past which Rawlings' task force didn't want to engage with.
Christmas 12/25/2017 Protest.
To protest Dallas's support for a plantation Christmas we did a reading of slave narratives starting at dawn Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2017. Will be doing it next year if Dallas is still promoting a Confederate Christmas.
The book is "Slave Testimony: Two Centuries of Letters, Speeches, Interviews, and autobiographies," edited by John W. Blassingame, Louisiana Statue University Press. The link for the book is here. https://lsupress.org/books/detail/slave-testimony/
