Nolan Estes Plaza
Nolan Estes was the Dallas ISD Superintendant in the late 1970s. He was bigoted against Gays and wanted to purge them for DISD and on his own initiative took to launch a campaign against Gays.
He did have an opponent, Dallas ISD School Board member Harryette Ehrhardt who stood up against Estes' bigotry and supported Gay rights in a time when Dallas was full of hostility against Gays. In the 1985 First Baptist Church Dallas pastor W.A. Criswell would have sermons that AIDS was the punishment of God.
Nolan Estes Plaza should be renamed Dr. Harryette Ehrhardt Plaza since we shouldn't honor bigotry and we should honor those who stand up against bigotry. She had school board members that privately called her actions "sick."
The whole story can be read in this paper which you can download or read here online.

We are going to write the school board to look into records to see how many Gays and Lesbians Estes victimized as DISD superintendent and ask that some memorial be done for them and DISD should issue an apology.
This is a link to all the DISD schools having issues in being named after vicious people.
