United Methodist Church General Information
Though given the response of the United Methodist Church (UMC) leadership regarding the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church hosting the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) it might seem that it was a waste of time to write the leadership further. However, I hadn't written them about the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) and I had more to say about hosting the UDC. Finally, if the UMC was going to continue to host neo-Confederate groups I wanted to eliminate any possible plausible deniability on their part in the future.
Ironically the founder of the Methodist denomination, John Wesley, was an abolitionist and yet they host neo-Confederate organizations. I mention this in my correspondence with UMC offcials, but it doesn't seem to count for anything.
The individual UMC churches frequently can be seen hosting monthly meetings and other events for local neo-Confederate groups. See the data on this on the general Churches of the Confederacy page.
